[Loom Video]

If you’d like to test Remotely before our interview, you may use my “permanent session” HERE. Some handy pointers for navigating the platform:

  1. Wear your headphones so they sit comfortably over your ears. Adjust your microphone so it’s about 1 to 3 inches away from your mouth.
  2. Plug in your microphone and headphones before clicking the invite.
  3. Open the invite link using Google Chrome.
  4. Select your external microphone and headphones from the dropdown menus.
  5. Select the option “I’m using headphones.”
  6. Create a test recording to ensure everything’s working.

What does a good microphone sound like?
Ideally, you’ll want to sound even better than the second half of this sample:

What are some examples of good microphones?
Common examples include the ATR2100, Yeti, and SM58. If ever you’re in doubt, try comparing your microphone audio to the audio sample above. For guests without microphones, we recommend Sennheiser SC 60 headset + windscreen. We’re happy to send you these at our expense. Simply email us your address (if you haven’t already in the Calendly form) and keep it as our gift to you!

Why do I need headphones?
Headphones help eliminate echoes and ensures that the audio we record comes out clear.

My computer doesn’t detect my microphone. What should I do?
Please double check your sound settings. On Mac, click  > System Preferences > Sound. On Windows, click Settings > Sound. Your microphone should be selectable under the “Input” tab.
