Thank you so much for scheduling a podcast interview with How to be Awesome at Your Job. You are calendared!
In the next few minutes, you’ll receive a confirmation email for your schedule and a SignRequest email containing our mutual release form. Below is everything to know between now and the interview:
FIRST, Please read and digitally sign our Mutual Release form. This friendly 1-page document puts some of the key terms of the website front-and-center for extra clarity. When you receive the email from SignRequest, click on “Review Document” to gain access. Then, it’s as simple as clicking on the document to affix your electronic signature.
SECOND, Please send your preferred 40-80 word bio and headshot to guests@awesomeatyourjob.com. When we don’t receive this, we just do our best to pull this together from your web presence elsewhere.
THIRD, Please take 10 minutes to thoughtfully review the 4-slide audience briefing document HERE. This is the most important step you can take to prepare for the interview. The brief is the “answer key” to delighting our audience. It contains information about our audience’s likes and dislikes, as well as sample questions. (Publicists: please forward the briefing to your client. Thank you!)
FOURTH, Please ensure your audio will sound great! Typically, great audio requires headphones (to eliminate echo), steady internet with a great mic+interface+computer in a relatively quiet, sound-treated space (e.g., your closet or a room with acoustic panels). If that’s not feasible, we’re happy to send you our favorite microphone at our expense. Simply email us your address (if you haven’t already in the Calendly form) and keep it as our gift to you!
You can test your sound quality quickly and easily HERE. Ideally, you’ll sound even better than the second half of this sample:
FIFTH, Please be video ready. The interview will be both audio and video, so please ensure you have a good-quality webcam and are in a well-lit room. We’ve seen that interviews with video consistently do better than audio-only ones, and we’d love for your episode to do well.
SIXTH, You’ll receive a unique link to our recording platform Riverside.fm via email. If you’d like to test out Riverside.fm earlier than that, you may use the “test session” HERE. We love Riverside.fm because it’s the easiest way to do a “double-ender” recording.
LAST, bring your enthusiasm! Let’s have some fun with this! The interview is pre-recorded and edited in post-prod, so it’s easy to cut if anything goes astray.
Final notes:
If you skipped over the Guest FAQ (or if you’d like to review them again) that’s HERE. And if you have any other questions, please feel free to email, call, or text. My mobile number at 312.927.0195.
Thanks!
